Today felt different from the moment we got on the water. We were entering the final paddling stage of the Greek Islands Paddle to Cure ALS, staying close to the coast near Aegina and bringing this extraordinary journey closer to its final miles.
After everything we have experienced over the past several days, there is something powerful about knowing that the end of the paddling part of the expedition is now within reach.
Close to the coast
Today we stayed close to the coastline, moving through the waters opposite Aegina. The weather was beginning to change, and rain appeared to be approaching just as we were completing the final stage of the effort.
The final stretch
There is a strange mix of emotions in these final miles. You feel the fatigue from the days behind you, but you also feel the energy of knowing what the team has achieved together.
Looking back
Every stage has been different. Some days were harder than others. Some gave us incredible conditions; others brought wind, waves, long hours and unexpected changes. But through all of it, the purpose has remained the same.
Every stroke, every difficult moment and every shared experience has been part of something bigger: raising awareness for ALS and standing with the people and families affected by the disease.
We are almost there.
One Journey. Two Countries. Together for ALS.
